The Ministry, as part of its ongoing efforts to expand access to ICTs to our more underserved communities, advises that the residents of Trincity, La Brea and Tarodale are now served with modern, state of the art ICT Access Centres which were formally opened in their communities in April 2025. All three (3) Centres are located within Community Centres and are part of the ongoing partnership between the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Ministry of Sport and Community Development. These added facilities have increased the total number of ICT Access Centres in Trinidad to 22.

One of the attendees at the Trincity opening ceremony, Ms. Kerlia Seunarinesingh, a secondary school student from the area, commented that the presence of this Centre, “will provide more opportunities to get the older generation more exposed to technology. I feel the younger generation already has access to it, but now there is a place for the older generation to utilise it.”

At the opening of the La Brea Centre, located at the corner of Pier Road and Point Sable Road, Senator the Honourable Hassel Bacchus, Minister of Digital Transformation, who sees the Centre playing a transformative role in the community, emphasized, “Embracing ICT is the key to building a truly connected, inclusive, and thriving digital society.”

These ICT Access Centres offer a range of essential services for communities, including:

  • Digital skills development opportunities and support in using digital technologies
  • Internet access, laptops, computer devices, and printing services
  • Training and conference facilities for learning and collaboration
  • A friendly, supportive team, staffed by members of the community

Jenelle Tang, a San Fernando resident, who was among the attendees at Tarodale shared her excitement about the Centre’s offerings, “I’m most excited to sign up for WeLearnTT. The service here has been so nice, they are very helpful and friendly,” said Ms. Tang. “This is good for the community; it will really improve it. My two sons really enjoyed the session the staff had with them.”

The AccessTT Programme of the Ministry of Digital Transformation aims to opens doors to digital learning, jobs, and innovation. It empowers youth and entrepreneurs with tools for success in the digital economy. The Programme, which assists in bridging the digital divide, assists in connecting our community to the world. Together, we’re building a more inclusive future for all.
