Residents of Waterloo now have greater access to digital tools and opportunities with the opening of a state-of-the-art ICT Access Centre. As part of its mission to create a more connected Trinidad and Tobago, the Ministry of Digital Transformation (MDT) continues to expand its network to 19 ICT Access Centres located in ICT underserved areas. On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, the Waterloo ICT Access Centre officially opened its doors to the community at the Corner of Main Road and Butler Village, Waterloo.
Residents can now access:
- Digital skills development opportunities and support in using digital technologies
- Internet access, laptops, computer devices, and printing services
- Training and conference facilities for learning and collaboration
- A friendly, supportive team—staffed by members of the community
Speaking at the launch, Senator the Honourable Hassel Bacchus, Minister of Digital Transformation, encouraged community members to support each other in making full use of the Centre. “All of you should help one another as we grow, learn, and create in this beautiful space. Let us remember that it is a place of community and support.” Community members shared their enthusiasm about learning digital skills and ensuring that the youths in the area have access to digital technologies. Gloria Thomas, 46, said, “My son and his classmates at Waterloo Secondary can come down here and do projects using the internet and copier.” Le Ron Toussaint, 41, said, “I’m excited for everything! My tech-savvy is low, so I will be living here.”
These centres serve as vital hubs for digital inclusion, ensuring that all citizens have access to technology that is appropriate, affordable, and usable. For more information about our ICT Access Centres, please call +1(868) 612-4638 ext. 6
