Trinidad & Tobago Goes Digital with Global 50-in-5

On September 22, 2025, Trinidad and Tobago  joined the 50-in-5 campaign - a worldwide movement helping 50 countries build Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in just five years.

Speaking at the milestone event, Minister Dominic Smith outlined the Government of Trinidad and Tobago's vision regarding digital public infrastructure:

  • All government services online
  • Faster, cost-effective public administration
  • A fully digital nation

He also highlighted commitments to planned DPI projects including a National Digital ID for secure access an E-Government Portal for easy services and Digital Payments for taxes & transactions. This bold step puts T&T alongside nations like Estonia, Singapore, Jamaica, and Norway working towards accelerating innovation, inclusion, and progress toward the UNSDG's Digital Future.

Notice of Ministry Name Change

As of 23rd May, 2025, the Ministry of Public Administration and the Ministry of Digital Transformation have merged to form the Ministry of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence (MPAAI). This change is officially documented in Gazette #81.

The Minister of MPAAI is Senator The Honourable Dominic Smith.
