The Ministry of Digital Transformation is pleased to announce the opening of the St. James ICT Access Centre. This is the newest addition to the Ministry’s increasing network of Centres aimed at expanding digital access and inclusion across Trinidad and Tobago.

Located in the heart of the St. James community on George Cabral Circular Road, the Centre is now fully operational and open to the public. It offers access to computers, internet services, and a variety of digital literacy programmes.

The St. James ICT Access Centre is a collaborative space shared by the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS), featuring both a library corner and a computer lab.It provides a safe and supportive environment where citizens can build digital skills, pursue educational and economic opportunities, and access essential government services online.

During the launch, Minister of Digital Transformation, the Honourable Hassel Bacchus, encouraged residents—especially teachers, students, and entrepreneurs—to take full advantage of the services available at the centre.

Community members are already seeing the value. Melissa, a mother of two who lives nearby, spoke about how helpful the centre will be for families like hers. “A lot of kids don’t have access to printers,” she pointed out, “so just letting them know this exists can make a big difference.”

Sharon Maxime, 60, is no stranger to the value of ICT Access Centres—she completed a course at the Cascade location and is happy to see one now open in her own community. “All these new computers and things… the young ones go come in and use it, yes. And I go use it too! ” she said.

Three additional centres located inside Community Centres in Enterprise (Chaguanas), Harmony Hall, and La Horquetta have also been launched and will be ready to serve the public in the coming months.

The ICT Access Centres are part of the Ministry’s broader strategy to create an enabling environment for digital development, ensuring that communities across the country are equipped with the tools and training needed to thrive in the digital age.
